Hello fellow enthusiastic Picklers and Welcome, Welcome, WELCOME to our 5th year of another FUN-FILLED PICKELBALL TOURNEY!
By popular demand,The Byrne Creek Leos Club is hosting their 5th Byrne Creek Charity Pickleball Tournament to support their Club Charity initiatives together with the Vancouver Metro Pickleball Association. In response to feedback from numerous picklers, we have added an extra day on Friday to accomodate the growing number of singles players, starting at 5pm March 8th, 2019 and remaining participants for Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 am March 9th and 10th, 2019.
Please note that the registration deadline for the Byrne Creek Pickleball tournament is the 23rd of February, 2019 (midnight) so to avoid any disappointments, remind your partners and/or friends to register and submit their fees by then. Any registrations received after the deadline will be placed on a waitlist, with no guarantees that there will be a spot open once the player brackets are setup.
ALL event times are preliminary but shall be finalized the week of March 4th-2019.
Currently, the Tournament Ball to be determined.
In efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and to "GO GREEN" , water coolers will be provided for your water containers. Also, for those players playing in our last tournament that still have their previous wristband, you are more than welcome to recyle them at this time too.
The Byrne Creek Secondary Leos Club is a student-organized club chartered in 2005 under Lions International with the support of the Burnaby Edmonds Lions Club. They are located in the newest school in Burnaby; with more than 180 members we are currently the largest Leo Club in the entire world! Led by our amazing sponsor teacher Ms. Judy Fujiki, we organize and assist in various events and activities all around our community. Through volunteer work, we teach students teamwork, planning, and leadership skills that are vital in their futures. Aside from external community events we also have many in school events such as the Midnight Vigil, International Orientations, Valentine’s Day Rose Sale, and Seniors Tea. Leo Club has worked with countless organizations within our school and internationally, allowing students the opportunity to work with people from many diverse backgrounds. We are also grateful for the many years of guidance and support from our Lions International leader PZC and Past District 19A Leo Liaison Lion Glenn Cho.
Food and Snacks will be provided by the Byrne Creek Leos Club.
In efforts to "Go Green", water coolers will be provided to fill your personal water containers.

Current IFP rules apply. No non-conforming equipment permitted.
One of the main attraction of this tournament is to provide the participants with as many competitive games as possible. So, to maximize the number of games each team/player can play, some event categories will be seperated into pools with playoffs, some will be round robin with playoffs and some will stricly be round robin only, depending on the number of teams/players per event category at the close of the registration period. The format for the 5.0 bracket will be Double Elimination this year. The final formats will be at the discretion of the tournament committee.
For all doubles and singles events which include playoffs, the scoring guidelines of "1 game to 15, win by 1" will be in effect, however, the tournament committee reserves the right to modify it to "1 game to 11, win by 1" in the event of time constraints.
In the event of a tie, the tie-breaker will be determined by the team/player that has won the most games, then the team/player head to head comparison, then the team/player with the most earned points during the round robin, and if there is still a tie, a coin toss shall prevail.
Also, if there is insufficient time to complete the playoffs during the day, the tournament committee reserves the right to tweak the format and to decide the fairest approach in determining the winner.
To level the playing field for participants, we are structuring the tournament according to skill levels. Unless skill levels are combined due to a shortage of participants in a particular bracket, you will only play those players with a similar skill rating. If you do not know what your skill level is, we ask you to read the chart provided at http://ipickleball.org/ratings/IFP_ratings_descriptions.html and rate yourself. Alternatively, you may ask your fellow picklers to rate you after asking them to review the chart.
Please keep in mind that if your doubles partner has a higher skill rating than you do, you must register in the higher bracket. For example, if your partner has a 4.0 rating and yours is 3.5, you must register for the 4.0 bracket. “You may play up, but not play down”.
The tournament organization committee has the final decision in any discrepancies with any player's skill rating.
Also, although the dates are correct for each event, the tournament committee reserves the right to reschedule the event times to adjust for the final entries registered.
Medals will be awarded to the first three teams in each event.
