Food

A selection of fruit, natural snacks, and water - donated by Frick's Market of Union! - will be available to players as part of their registration fees.

A concessions stand will be operated by the Union Band Boosters on-site for players and spectators to purchase meal items and refreshments throughout both days of the tournament. All proceeds will benefit the Union Band Boosters and the Union R-XI Foundation teacher grants and scholarships programs.

A Tasty & Charitable Alternative...

On Sunday, the Union High School FFA will (lucky for us!) be hosting their annual Cookout in the Union City Park just a five-minute drive away from the high school. (Just Google the Union City Park; the BBQ will be held at the large pavilion across Park Avenue from the Swimplex.)

Guests may eat at the park or take advantage of a GrubHub-type delivery service to the high school we are ironing out the details on. They will serve pork burgers, ground beef and/or lamb, au gratin potatoes, green beans, salad, sheet pie or cake for dessert. Tea or lemonade to drink. A menu and final details will be placed in each player's packet handed out at registration. Please consider having lunch and/or dinner with them - and give a little extra support to the Union schools while visiting us that weekend!

There is a Super 8 in Union. It is located at 1015 East Main Street, directly across town from the high school and a 2 mile / 5 minute drive away.

There is other nearby lodging in Washington and St. Clair, both about 8 miles from Union.

Format

The tournament will conform to the traditional championship double elimination format:

All matches will consist of the best 2 out of 3 to 11 by 2 in the winner's bracket and 1 to 15 by 2 in the opportunity (loser's) bracket.

In the determination of the tournament director, a round robin  may be indicated if 5 or fewer teams are competing in any particular bracket.  In this case all matches will consist of 1 game to 15 by 2.  Order of finish will be determined by (1) Total matches won; (2) Result of head to head competion; and finally, (3) Total point differential.

All medal matches will consist of the best 2 out of 3 to 11 by 2.

The tournament director may modify or truncate the format secondary to adverse weather conditions.
