The Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic (SMPC) planning committee has decided to cancel the 2020 tournament scheduled for July 24th – 26th in Shoreline, WA. Looking ahead, we have selected July 23 – 25, 2021 as the dates for next year’s Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic.
We hope this finds you safe, healthy and eager for the safe return to the pickleball courts in the near future. With that said, The Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic (SMPC) planning committee has decided to cancel the 2020 tournament scheduled for July 24th – 26th in Shoreline, WA.
While we are all extremely disappointed not to be able to host this event, the safety of all players and volunteers is paramount. Given the uncertainty as to the level of restrictions on large gatherings that might be in place for the entire summer, the planning committee and the Seattle Metro Pickleball Association Board of Directors agreed that the best course of action would be to cancel the 2020 SMPC without opening registration.
Looking ahead, we have selected July 23 – 25, 2021 as the dates for next year’s Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic. Please save the dates and plan to join us for what will certainly be the premier outdoor tournament in the Seattle metro area. Until then, follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on the latest tournament information.
We thank all of our many volunteers who work tirelessly year-round to plan a great tournament experience for you. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful sponsors who have supported us and look forward to working with you next year.
And to you, our tournament players, thanks for making our inaugural event last year so special. We look forward to seeing you all in 2021, to come together as a community and engage in some sorely-missed competitive play.
Stay safe and be well,
The Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic Tournament Committee

12.C.3. Round Robin. All players or teams play each other. Games may use any of the approved tournament scoring options (see 12.B.). The winner is determined based on number of matches won. If two or more teams are tied:
First tie-breaker – head to head
Second tie-breaker – point differential of all games played (Example: Team A won Match 1 11-8, 11-4, so they would have a point differential of +10. Team A then wins the second match 11-9, 2-11, 11-6. For this round, they would have a point differential of -2. This would give them a total for the day of +8.)
12.B. Tournament Game Options.
The primary and recommended tournament scoring option to be used is best two of three games to 11 points, win by 2 points. Other options include: one game to 15 or one game to 21. All formats win by 2 points.
Pickleball Is Great reserves the right to refuse service and refund any player at anytime.
