Tournament Description

Mid-South Regional Championship is a regional qualifier for the USA Pickleball Diamond Amateur Championship. We hope you plan to particpate and attend an exciting weekend full of pickleball and fun! Gold and Silver Medalists from this Regional Tournament will earn pre-registration into the Diamond Amateur Championship at Pictona in Holly Hills FL December 1-7 2022. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists from this Regional Tournament will be entered into the lottery for the 2022 National Championships in Indian Wells. The Open events will be awarded $1000/team for first place.

Food

Registration does not include any food or drink. Players will be allowed to bring their own food and drink inside the complex and there will also be food and drink available for purchase on site at the tournament.

Other Registration Info

Match Announcements: daily match assignments will be texted to each player and not announced over a PA system. To receive text messages for match assignments, you must enter your cell phone number in your pt.com player profile. It is each player's responsibility to arrive on time for each match.

Court Assignments: QR codes will be available on site for players to scan and access court assignments, a court map, and match results online. Printed brackets and printed results will not be on site to prevent gathering due to Covid. 

Covid: every effort will be made to execute this tournament under current Covid protocols. Best practices will be used to eliminate shared items and we will follow procedures to disinfect and sanitize all items. 

Payment: Payment is due by 2/15/22 and players that have not paid will be moved to the Waitlist. 

Events: Other events (such as a player social, celebrity matches, skills clinics, etc.) may be offered but will be announced as the tournament nears and are based on current Covid requirements. 

Spectators: Spectators and guests will be allowed and there is no gate fee for players or guests. A lawn chair is recommended as seating is limited. Tents and canopies are allowed but must be placed in the grass areas and not on any concrete or around the vendor marketplace or championship courts. 

TV Broadcast: Championship Courts will include a TV production with live commentators, mutliple camera angles, instant replay, unique graphics, player interviews, and more. Southern Sports Network will host the coverage that can be seen on their app (Apple and Android), Roku TV, and Amazon Fire TV.

Player Recovery Zone: This area will be FREE for players and includes massage chairs, injury therapy, massage therapists, and movement assesments.

Medals: Medals will only be awarded after 3pm each day and when the event is completed (Gold Medal Match is finished). Medals will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each bracket (not by division, even if combined into one bracket). 

Cancellation Policy

Refund requests before 3/1/22 will be refunded the full amount. There are no refunds after 2/28//22.

There will be no refunds for events that are cancelled due to inclement weather or any other unforeseen event, including Covid. This is an outdoor tournament and there is no indoor backup plan for this tournament. Matches will not be played at another location or on another date. 

If a player is unable to play and their partner finds a replacement, the new partner would still need to pay the full tournament fee. 

Refunds will be issued after registration closes for those players who have a credit balance and will be processed after the tournament has ended, by 30 days following the tournament, including for players who did not get off the waitlist.

Directions

The Courts of McKinney will have 38 pickleball courts and is located Northeast of DFW and are 25 minutes from DFW Airport. The courts are inside of Gabe Nesbitt Park with plenty of parking. The address is 3252 Alma Road, McKinney TX 75070.

Format

Rules: USA Pickleball rules apply

Referees and Line Judges: There will be a referee for all medal matches and all players are encouraged to assist. Referees will be paid $10/match. Line judges are not required.

Double Elimination Bracket (8 or more teams):

Winners Bracket: best of 3 games to 11 win by 2

Losers Bracket: 1 game to 15 win by 2

Bronze Medal Match: 1 game to 15 win by 2

Gold Medal Match: best of 3 games to 11 win by 2 (if the losers bracket wins this game, then another 1 game to 15 win by 2 will be played to determine the winner)

Round Robin (3-7 teams): No medal matches. Medal winners will be determined in each group by USAP tie breaker rules

3 Teams: Double Round Robin with each match best of 3 games to 11 points 

4 Teams: Double Round Robin with each match 1 game to 15 points 

5 Teams: Single Round Robin with each match 1 game to 15 points 

6 Teams: Single Round Robin with each match 1 game to 15 points 

7 Teams: Single Round Robin with each match 1 game to 15 points 

Events: 19+, 35+, 50+, 55+, 60+: skill/age and 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+: age/skill
