This is a non-sanctioned tournament with events organized by skill level (self-rated – see https://usapickleball.org/tournaments/tournament-player-ratings/player-skill-rating-definitions/. Play is at GR Pearkes Recreation Centre in the Field House which has a hard, outdoor playing surface. The official ball will be the CORE outdoor ball.

UPDATE APRIL 11: COVID-19 VACCINATION WILL BE REQUIRED FOR for all players, volunteers, and spectators. No exceptions.

Event sizes will be kept small initially and later additions will be made for very popular events so waitlist if interested and when events fill.

Events will be as follows unless registration numbers require the combination or cancellation of some events.

Men’s and women’s singles levels 3-5 Fri, June 10 play starting at 5 PM

Men’s and women’s doubles levels 3-5 Sat, June 11 play starting at 8:30 AM

Mixed doubles levels 3-5 Sunday, Sun, June 12 play starting at 8:30 AM

Depending on the number of teams in the event, play will be round robin only or round robin combined with single elimination playoffs. Minimum number of games is 4.

Games will be first to 11 points unless otherwise determined and announced prior to play.

Cost per person is based on $40 registration fee plus $10 per event entered. Payment will be processed through PayPal. Personal PayPal accounts are not required. Credit cards will be processed through PayPal.

Each player must register, pay the registration fee, and pay the fee for each event entered.

Players who are looking for a partner may register however complete teams with both players paid in full will take precedence over players without partners. Partners and prospective partners need to ensure that each has registered and paid to secure a team spot.

Players may play up in an event level higher than their playing level but they may not play down at a level lower than their rating. Teams must play at the level of the most advanced partner.

Qualification and seeding for play-off positions will be decided by direct comparison of teams within pools or events such that ties will be broken by determining how teams placed in relation to each other, then by points against, then by a flip of a coin. In the case of pools, the top teams in each pool will advance and comparisons between pools will not take place.

Food

Snack will be provided on Friday.

Light lunch plus snacks will be provided Saturday and Sunday for players and volunteers only.. Dietary restrictions may not be met. Consider bringing a sweet to share if you wish.

Bring your own refillable water bottle. Water supplied by Canadian Springs.

Directions

G. R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is at 3100 Tillicum Rd in Victoria, BC. It is behind Tillicum Shopping Centre. There is plenty of free parking available.

Register each day. Registration starts at 4 PM on Friday and 7:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday for the first events. Ensure your arrival a minimum of 30 min before your game time.

Format

Events will be, depending on registration numbers, round robin only or round robin with single elimination playoffs, or double elimination only play. The target goal for events is a minimum of 4 games for a team. Some events, depending on registration numbers, may be combined with other events or cancelled.

Games will be the first to 11 points unless otherwise determined and announced prior to the start of the event.
