Tournament Description

Registration includes free shirt and swag bag - plus - FREE BEER. Medals will be awarded to first 3 levels of winners. Don't miss the mascot photo op and exhibition game between VCU, VT, UR and Flying squirrels!! DJ, food trucks, Mr. Softee ice cream truck @ 1 on Sunday, kids bounce house will be onsite too. We'll have skill competition events for you to enjoy in down times on both days. Open rec play is encouraged when competition courts become available around noon. If you withdraw before CANCELLATION DEADLINE ABOVE, you will be issued a refund (with a $25 processing fee deducted) 

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY - This is an outdoor tournament.  If weather is a factor, we will do all we can to play matches.  There are no refunds, credits or make up days, if the tournament is impacted by weather.  No indoor backup plan for this tournament.

Format

Round Robin Brackets (4-8 Teams)

Brackets with Fewer than 4 teams

Fewer than 4 Teams will be moved into a combined bracket

Brackets with More than 8 Teams will either be first split by age unless that's not practical and then split into two round robin pools with play offs.

Age brackets will be created (19+ and 50+) in each skill as long as there are at least 4 teams for each. If there are more than 8 registered teams, but not enough to create two age brackets, ages will be combined and there will be two pools with playoffs.

SINGLES will be double elimination, games to 15, win by 2, except brackets with 5 or fewer which will play round robin.

Round Robin : All players or teams play each other.  The winner is determined based on the number of matches won. If two or more teams are tied:

1st tie-breaker: head-to-head matches won.

2nd tie-breaker: point differential of all games played. (e.g., Team A won Match 1 11-8, 11-4, so they would have a point differential of +10. Team A then wins the second match 11-9, 2-11, 11-6. For this round, they would have a point differential of -2. This would give them a total for the day of +8.) 12.C.3.c. 

3rd tie-breaker: head-to-head point differential.

4th tie-breaker: point differential against next-highest team. (e.g., If the teams are tied for second, use point differentials against the first-place team.)
