Tournament Description

Registration fee $70. Each event $10.00. MD 60+and above will take place on Thursday of the tournament. Days may fill up and brackets may not but they may still close. Completed teams with partners, and teams that are paid in full have priority on available slots. Teams not paid in full or without partners or partners not paid are subject to be moved to waiting list to make room for paid teams. All registered players will have member privileges at the Sportsplex during the tournament. Stripe/Credit Card

Food

We will have local food vendor(s) on site Thursday-Sunday.  They offer sandwichs, (Chicken, Brisket, Hot Dog, Hamburger/Cheeseburger), chips and drinks.  Included with your registration fee will be a lunch voucher.  This voucher will be honored for one meal by the on-site vendor(s).

Partner Replacement Policy:

Any registered player losing a partner must replace that partner with an already registered player. The replacement must be in the same skill/age group that you are scheduled to play. Keep in mind as you search for a replacement that players may play down in age and up in skill. Replacements need to be known and communicated to tournament director or assistant director by 6 p.m. the day before you are scheduled to play.  Any request for replacements coming in after 6 p.m. the day before you are scheduled to play will be reviewed by the Tournament Director for approval. Replacements can be found on the players needing partners list, at the bottom of the main welcome page!

Cancellation Policy

Player cancellation/withdrawal prior to February 24, 2023 or tournament cancellation due to Covid-19 will result in full refund less a $5.00 administration fee.  All "Waitlist" Players will be provided with an appropriate refund less $5.00 administrative fee.  There will be no cancellation refunds after February 24, 2023.

Inclement weather policy - This is an outdoor tournament.  Although the courts are covered, there could be blowing water issues.  If weather is a factor, we will do all we can to allow play to continue.  There will be no refunds or credits due to weather or other uncontrollable events.

This may be updated due to current construction near the interstate.

If traveling I-85 NORTH

Take EXIT 64 and turn LEFT at the end of the exit ramp, travel on to the "BLINKING" stop sign.   Please pay particular attention to this stop sign as the crossing traffic does not stop.  From there continue straight for 1 mile and the Opelika SportsPlex will be on your LEFT. Bear right when entering the parking lot. The pickleball courts and parking are located at the rear of the main building.  Look for additional signage for parking near the pickleball courts.  

If traveling I-85 SOUTH

Take EXIT 64 and turn RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp, travel on to the "BLINKING" stop sign.   Please pay particular attention to this stop sign as the crossing traffic does not stop.  From there continue straight for 1 mile and the Opelika SportsPlex will be on your LEFT. If traveling HWY 280 (from Birmingham)

Follow 280 until you reach Veterans Parkway. Take a left at the traffic light. Follow Veterans Parkway until you reach Oak Bowery Road. Take a left at the three-way stop. Follow Oak Bowery Road until you reach Morris Avenue. Take a right at the stop sign. Follow Morris Avenue until your reach Lafayette Parkway. Take a right at the stop sign. Follow Lafayette Parkway until you reach Lake Condy Road. Take a left at the traffic light. Follow Lake Condy until you reach Andrews Road. Take a left onto Andrews Road. Follow Andrews Road until you reach (newly constructed) SportsPlex Parkway. Take a right and then turn right into the Opelika SportsPlex. Bear right when entering the parking lot. The pickleball courts and parking are located at the rear of the main building.  Look for additional signage for parking near the pickleball courts. 

Format

When you arrive on-site the first day, please go to the player check-in desk and sign in.  After checking in the first day, you may check in using the PT player app on the following days.  YOU MUST CHECK IN EVERY DAY THAT YOU PLAY.

If the tournament is running ahead of schedule, players may be called on their cell phones and asked to check in early.  Players may be called to play as early as 30 minutes prior to their scheduled start time. Once a match is called, players will have 10 minutes to begin play.

Bracket Formats --

Doubles:  3 Teams: Double Round Robin 1 to 15 win by 2

                4-5 Teams: Single Round Robin 2 out of 3 to 11 win by 2

                6 Teams or more: Double Elimination 2 out of 3 to 11 win by 2

                Opportunity bracket: 1 to 15 win by 2  

                Bronze Medal Match: 1 to 15 win by 2

Singles:   3 Players: Double Round Robin 1 to 15 win by 2

                4-5 Players: Single Round Robin 2 out of 3 to 11 win by 2

                6 Players or more: Double Elimination 2 out of 3 to 11 win by 2

                Opportunity bracket: 1 to 15 win by 2  

                Bronze Medal Match: 1 to 15 win by 2

Per USAPA all matches are win by 2.

Round robin winners determined first by number of matches won, then head to head, then highest point differential.
